Laser Treatment
Laser for the treatment of retinal disease, retinal detachment, chronic and acute glaucoma and many other diseases of the posterior (back) of the eye are available on the premises at Gordon Eye Surgery.
These type of laser treatments are generally undergone in order to preserve vision rather than restore vision as there is a progressive loss of the capacity of the eye to maintain good vision with some of these diseases.
Total laser time for the treatment is brief, generally several minutes sitting still at the laser microscope. The application of the laser usually only causes mild discomfort and the surgeons and staff will ensure your comfort throughout the procedure.
The consultation time and post-laser assessment may mean that you are with us for two hours so that the safety and efficacy of the treatment is ensured. Your pupils will have been dilated so you will require assistance getting home from your appointment such as a driver or help on public transport.
